A Guide to Portland’s AANHPI Owned Businesses

The Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community have a rich history in Portland.

We are happy to celebrate these wonderful shops for providing inspiring and inclusive spaces for everyone to shop, dine and explore.

Check back regularly as we add more businesses for you to explore and enjoy!

fumi

Fumi is named after owner and creative director, Mia Reiko Braverman’s grandmother. She offers in-house handmade all natural incense, work by local artists, vintage clothing and objects sourced in Japan and in the US.

When you visit Fumi you’ll feel (and smell) Reiko Braverman’s unique connection to her Japanese roots combined with an aesthetic, perfectly at home on Portland’s historic Mississippi Ave.

kiriko

From Kimono jackets to household essentials, Kiriko is a lifestyle brand forged from the spirit of Mottainai – a Japanese value that embraces wasting nothing and recycling everything. Be sure to visit their sister shop, Kokoro, just across the street in the heart of Downtown Portland.

Stumptown otaku

Otaku is the Japanese word for Nerd! This beloved, queer- and Asian-owned anime and pop culture gift shop in downtown Portland features a massive selection of anime figurines, manga, plushies, and custom merchandise.

Mikiko mochu donuts

This delicious flagship shop is all about their unique gluten free donuts in flavors like Marionberry Lemonade, Honey Lavender, and Peach Green Tea Boba. Nestled on NE 28th in the heart of Kern’s culinary row, Mikiko is a perfect place to arouse and delight your tastebuds!

Lansu Garden Gift Shop

The Garden Shop at Lansu Chinese Garden is an enchanting shopping experience centering the creations of over 40 local AANHPI artisans. Stop in for onomomo snacks, a beautiful enamel bracelet, a mahjong travel set or some pu-er tea. While we recommend pairing your visit with the tranquil and meditative exploration of the Lansu Chinese Garden, the Garden Shop is worthy of a visit of its own.

Geek Easy Cafe

If you like your Saigon Noir (dark Vietnamese brew with condensed milk, salted caramel, and cold foam) or MaoMao's Cooling Elixer (chrysanthemum tea with monk fruit) along with chicken karaage or takoyaki paired with manga and arcade games, Geek Easy Cafe is THE place for you.

Old Town Portland with its long history as a center for Portland’s AAPI community, is the perfect place to meet up with friends for a fun and delicious time.

During the day owner and designer, Poom Lynn, will help you find the perfect present for that special someone, even if that’s you.
