raylee consignment
I think to be a small business owner in Portland is truly about community. It’s a matter of always lifting up as opposed to competing. It’s kind of cliche kumbaya but it’s true. I mean, it’s such a supportive community, I love it so much. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else doing this.
I’m Rachael Hoffman and I own Raylee’s Consignment. Raylee Consignment is a consignment store. We focus on high end women’s fashion, clothing, shoes, bags accessories. We don’t take fast fashion. The whole point of it is 2 things, one to be sustainable, to encourage sustainable shopping. Many clothes end up in a landfill and they’ve only been worn a few times. It’s about shopping sustainably and being good for the environment and being good for the pocket book. I wanted a place to shop where I wasn’t gonna have to dig through a bunch of $5 stained t-shirts to get what I want. I wanted to like everything, so it’s a highly curated experience and we have things at every price point so it’s hugely accessible and that's really important to me too. We try to be as size inclusive as possible. We currently have items that range from extra small up through 2 X. We do our best on all fronts and we just try to make it a fun shopping experience. I opened Raylee in June of 2020 and I basically complained for 10 years why didn't we have we;;-curatedconsignment store in our neighborhood. I thought maybe I could do it, maybe I should do it, maybe I’m the one to do it.
It’s not just a place to buy clothes. It’s a community and I just love seeing someone light up because they're feeling their best selves. being an entrepreneur is endlessly creative. its challenging but i mean it truly love what i'm doing. People shop small they’re supporting the people in the neighborhood. literally the people working behind the counter, the business owner. It’s vital to the growth and sustainability of our neighborhoods to have mom and pop places, to have these small businesses instead of big box stores. You have to support small businesses so that they continue o flourish and grow.
